The device is delivered in a box of thick cardboard in white, with a color photograph of the sensor on the lid. In the right corner are the logos of Xiaomi and Mijia. In addition to the air quality monitor, the box also contains instructions — in Chinese and a charging cable, USB — USB-Type C.

At the end of the box are pictograms of sensors — PM 2.5 particles, volatile organic substances, CO2 — approximated, temperature, humidity and light sensor, it is needed to adjust the screen brightness.
Externally, the monitor is a white plastic brick with a length of just over 10 centimeters. Most of the front surface is occupied by a color screen. On the left is the window of the light sensor, which controls the brightness of the screen. On the back side, in the bottom middle is the USB Type C connector and the mijia logo — which is the letters M and J.
On the right and left, there are identical perforated sensor covers that analyze air parameters. The only button is located on the upper end of the device. It serves to turn on / off, switch screens, return to the main menu.
In terms of design, the Mijia air detector uses a 3.97-inch touch screen with a resolution of 480×800. The overall design is simple and elegant, and can be easily integrated into various office or home environments.
Inside the gadget is a laser detector of harmful particles PM2.5 up to 0.3 microns in size (smoke, fine dust, smog and so on), which can settle in the lungs and cause serious respiratory diseases. Sensirion’s two sensors assess the level of carbon dioxide and volatile organic compounds (TVOC). They also measure indoor temperature and air humidity.
The Xiaomi MIJIA Air Quality Detector is integrated with the company’s “smart home” devices and will maintain an optimal micro climate by controlling air conditioners and air purifiers (of course, only if they are).
